The James Family Prescott YMCA is a cause-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable programs and services to benefit people of all incomes and backgrounds in our community. These Y programs and services help make children, adults, and families in our communities healthier and more connected in spirit, mind, and body.
Thanks to the generous support of those who donate to the Y’s Annual Campaign and other fundraising events, financial assistance is available to those who cannot afford the full fee and qualify for assistance. Recipients are expected to be responsible for a percentage of the membership or program cost. For more information on donating to the Y, please visit our Donate Page.
With Financial Assistance, eligible kids and families find the assets they need in YMCA programs like Membership, Youth Sports, Swim Lessons, Child Care, Parent-Child, After School programs, Summer Camp, and so much more.

Nationwide Membership
The James Family Prescott YMCA is part of the Nationwide Membership Program. If you are visiting another city that has a YMCA and they are also a Nationwide Membership facility, you will be able to use their facility. Know before you go.
Kids at the Y
There's nothing that we love more than watching kids develop new friendships and discover their passion for various sports and healthy activities. That being said, we kindly remind parents that the YMCA is not intended as a "care center". Therefore, no one, regardless of age, should be left at the Y for extended periods of time unless they are enrolled in a specific program. In addition, any person under the age of 12 must be supervised and accompanied by an adult (other than a Y employee) at all times and in all areas of the facility.
Food & Beverages
Food and drink are not permitted past the membership check-in desk, except water in sealed plastic containers.
Service Animal Policy
The James Family Prescott YMCA Service Animal policy is in alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act’s regulations.
Under the ADA’s revised regulations, the definition of “service animal” is limited to a dog or miniature horse that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog (or miniature horse as the only exception) must be directly related to the person’s disability. For example, many people who are blind or have low vision use dogs to guide and assist them with orientation. Retrieving out of reach items and describing items are ways to provide assistance to members and participants with disabilities.
Service animals provide many types of assistance for people with disabilities. Many individuals who are deaf use dogs to alert them to sounds. People with mobility disabilities often use dogs to pull their wheelchairs or retrieve items. People with epilepsy may use a dog to warn them of an imminent seizure, and individuals with psychiatric disabilities may use a dog to remind them to take medication. Veterans returning from war with new disabilities are increasingly using service animals to assist them with activities of daily living as they reenter civilian life. Under the ADA, “comfort,” “therapy,” or “emotional support” animals do not meet the definition of a service animal.
Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents him or her from using these devices. Individuals who cannot use such devices must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. The individual is liable for any damage/accidents that may be caused by their service animal. The James Family Prescott YMCA may exclude service animals only if 1) the dog is out of control and the handler cannot or does not regain control; or 2) the dog is not housebroken. If a service animal is excluded, the individual may be allowed to enter the Y without the service animal.
Cell Phones
The use of cell phones is prohibited in any locker rooms for the protection of our members and guests. This is in accordance with the Video Voyeurism Prevention Act of 2004.
Breastfeeding
In Arizona, a mother is entitled to breastfeed her child in public, and is not subject to indecent exposure laws, per the following Arizona Revised Statutes.
A.R.S. 41-1443
A mother is entitled to breastfeed in any area of a public place or a place of public accommodation where the mother is otherwise lawfully present.
A.R.S. 13-1402. Indecent exposure; exception; classification
A. A person commits indecent exposure if he or she exposes his or her genitals or anus or she exposes the areola or nipple of her breast or breasts and another person is present, and the defendant is reckless about whether the other person, as a reasonable person, would be offended or alarmed by the act.
B. Indecent exposure does not include an act of breastfeeding by a mother.
Locker Use/Valuables
Lockers are available for day use by members and guests. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We strongly recommend you do not bring valuables into the facility and that you always secure your belongings. A Lost & Found is located at the front desk, pool deck, childcare buildings, gymnastics and fitness.
Accidents
The YMCA is not responsible for any accidents. All individuals participate at their own risk. A waiver of liability must be signed and kept on file at the membership desk. Please immediately report any accident or emergency to the membership desk. Staff is trained to assist in emergency situations.
Non-Smoking/Alcohol/Drug Policy
The James Family Prescott YMCA is a family-oriented facility. Please refrain from using tobacco, electronic tobacco products, drugs and alcohol on the premises. Thank you for your cooperation.
3rd Party Trainers / Instructors
Third party individuals acting as trainers and/or instructors are not permitted on YMCA property due to licensing and liability concerns. Please consult YMCA professionals for your training and/or lessons.
Snow Day Policy
If PUSD issues a 2 hour snow delay the Y will be open, however, all YMCA child care, gymnastics, and fitness classes are cancelled until 10:00am.
If PUSD issues a complete snow day and school is cancelled, there will be no child care, gymnastics, and fitness classes until 10:00am.
If the weather service issues a winter storm warning for the day, some programs after 10:00am may be cancelled.
Please call the Y or check our facebook page to make sure your class / program is still scheduled. Sign up for text/email alerts to keep you informed.
Sex Offender / Criminal History Policy
The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access. We consider it of great importance to provide a safe and threat-free environment. For this reason, the YMCA monitors the sexual offender registry. Persons on this list will not be eligible for YMCA membership, program participation, volunteer or employment opportunities with this YMCA. The YMCA reserves the right to perform background checks on its members. Registered sex offenders and those individuals with any criminal conviction for an act that is contrary to the YMCA values and mission may not be eligible to hold membership. The YMCA reserves the right to deny/terminate access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse; is a registered sex offender; or who has demonstrated unlawful conduct that may be conceived as a threat to the well-being of members and guests.
